Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Noise-induced hearing loss is a permanent or temporary reduction in hearing caused by exposure to loud sounds. It develops when delicate hair cells inside the inner ear become damaged due to continuous noise or sudden intense sounds such as explosions, machinery, concerts, or high-volume headphones. This condition can affect people of all ages, especially workers in noisy industries, musicians, military personnel, and individuals frequently exposed to loud environments. Although damaged inner ear cells cannot regenerate, treatment options such as hearing aids, sound therapy, and communication training can improve daily functioning. Wearing ear protection, lowering headphone volume, limiting exposure to loud environments, and taking listening breaks are essential safety measures.
