Valve & Aortic Disorders

Valve & Aortic Disorders are a group of cardiovascular conditions involving damage or dysfunction of the heart valves and the aorta, the body’s largest artery. Heart valve disorders occur when one or more valves fail to open or close properly, leading to conditions such as Aortic Stenosis, Mitral Regurgitation, or Tricuspid Valve Disease. These problems can reduce efficient blood flow and strain the heart.

Aortic disorders affect the structure or function of the aorta and include conditions like Aortic Aneurysm and Aortic Dissection, both of which can become life-threatening if untreated. Common causes include aging, congenital defects, infections, high blood pressure, and connective tissue disorders.

Symptoms may include chest pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, or fainting. Diagnosis often uses echocardiography, CT scans, MRI, and cardiac catheterization. Treatment ranges from medications and lifestyle modifications to minimally invasive procedures or open-heart surgery, depending on severity and progression.
