Overbite / Underbite

An overbite or underbite is a dental condition when the upper or lower teeth touch the other set of teeth too much. When the top front teeth jut out too much over the lower teeth, the condition is called an overbite. An underbite is when the lower teeth jut out too much in front of the upper teeth. Genetics, issues with jaw growth, sucking on your thumb for a long period, or thrusting your tongue out all the time as a child could all lead to one of these disorders.

If these bite issues aren't resolved, they can lead to a lot of problems, such as trouble chewing, jaw pain, speech problems, tooth wear, and even low self-esteem because of how they look. Some options to fix this problem are braces, clear aligners, or even jaw surgery. Finding issues early in childhood or adolescence makes treatment easier and more effective, although adults can also benefit from corrective surgery. You need to go to the dentist regularly to discover and fix these kinds of problems before they get worse.

Fixing an overbite or underbite not only improves how your teeth perform, but it also makes your face seem better and gives you more confidence. The first thing you should do to get a healthier and straighter smile is to see an orthodontist.
