Osteosarcoma (bone cancer), liposarcoma (fat tissue cancer), and leiomyosarcoma (smooth muscle cancer) are all common types. Sarcomas can happen to anyone, but they are more common in kids, teens, and young adults.
Genetic factors, radiation exposure, and some inherited disorders, including Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, may make sarcomas more likely to happen, but the exact reason is often unknown. Depending on where the tumour is, symptoms may include a lump that doesn't hurt, swelling, or pain as the tumour gets bigger.
Imaging studies, including MRI, CT scans, and biopsies, are used to provide a diagnosis. Surgery to remove the tumour is usually part of the treatment, and it is often done alongside radiation or chemotherapy. Finding sarcoma early and getting specialised care are very important for boosting patients' chances of living longer and having a better quality of life.
