Skin Infections (cellulitis, Abscesses)

Usually brought on by Streptococcus or Staphylococcus germs, cellulitis shows as a red, swollen, heated, sensitive region of skin that typically spreads quickly. Usually it results from a skin break allowing germs to enter. Conversely, abscesses are collections of pus resulting from the body's struggle against an infection that could feel warm and solid to the touch and cause discomfort and swelling in the lump.

Although anybody can have either condition, those with diabetes, poor hygiene, or compromised immune systems are more likely to get them. Early signs could include localized discomfort, fever, chills, and fatigue. For cellulitis, treatment usually calls for antibiotics; for abscesses, drainage may also be necessary.
These infections can spread to deeper tissues and the circulation without quick treatment, leading to major medical problems. Good cleanliness, quick wound care, and avoidance of skin damage can help ward against these diseases. If you notice infection symptoms like redness or pus, immediately seek medical assistance to prevent the problem from getting worse.
