Meniscectomy Rehab

Meniscectomy rehabilitation is a regimented recuperation procedure that follows the surgical removal of all or part of a torn meniscus in the knee. The degree of the surgery determines the length of recovery; partial meniscectomies often allow faster recoveries to activities than whole removals.

Almost immediately following surgery, rehabilitation starts with a first focus on reducing oedema and carefully regaining joint motion. Early on, ice, height, and compression are often employed. Patients participate in physical therapy, emphasising increasing flexibility and strengthening the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calf muscles as healing progresses, thereby restoring balance and coordination.
Under physiotherapist direction, weight-bearing usually begins a few days following partial meniscectomy surgery. The knee is better ready for daily activities or sports when one gradually moves to more dynamic exercises, such as stationary biking, resistance training, and functional drills.
Following a customised rehabilitation program greatly affects the result and lowers the chance of long-termjoint problems and reinjury. Most patients recover completely within 4 to 8 weeks with appropriate therapy; they can then resume a busy lifestyle with little restrictions.
