Metabolic Obesity

Metabolic obesity is a condition in which excess body fat contributes to disturbances in the body's normal metabolic functions. Unlike simple weight gain, metabolic obesity is closely linked to insulin resistance, abnormal cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, and chronic low-grade inflammation. These metabolic changes increase the risk of developing serious health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fatty liver disease, and certain cancers.

The condition can occur in individuals with visible obesity as well as in some people who appear to have a normal body weight but carry excess visceral fat around internal organs. A balanced diet rich in whole foods, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and stress management are key components of treatment. In some cases, medications or bariatric interventions may be recommended. Early identification and proper management can significantly reduce long-term health risks and improve overall metabolic health and quality of life.
