Buried Penis

Buried penis is a medical condition in which the penis appears hidden beneath the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or scrotum despite being normal in size. This condition can affect infants, children, and adults. In children, it may occur due to abnormal skin attachment or developmental issues, while in adults, it is often linked to obesity, excessive fat around the pubic area, aging, or complications from surgery and infections.

People with a buried penis may experience difficulty maintaining hygiene, irritation, skin infections, urinary problems, discomfort during sexual activity, and emotional distress. In severe cases, urine can become trapped beneath the skin, leading to inflammation and recurrent infections. Many individuals also suffer from reduced confidence and psychological stress because of the condition’s appearance.

Diagnosis is usually based on physical examination by a urologist. Treatment depends on the severity and underlying cause. Mild cases may improve with weight loss and proper hygiene, while more advanced cases often require surgery to remove excess tissue and restore normal penile visibility and function. Early treatment can improve physical comfort, urinary function, sexual health, and overall quality of life.
