Skin Tags

Skin tags are soft, skin-colored, or slightly darker growths that usually hang from the skin by a tiny stalk. They are very common and often appear on the neck, armpits, eyelids, groin, or under the breasts, where friction occurs.
Most skin tags are harmless and do not cause pain or health problems. However, they may become irritated if they catch on clothing, jewelry, or repeated skin rubbing.
The exact cause is not always known, but friction, excess body weight, pregnancy, diabetes, and genetics may increase the chance of developing them.
Skin tags do not need treatment unless they are bothersome or cosmetically unwanted. A dermatologist can remove them safely by cutting, freezing, or cauterizing the growth in a simple office procedure.

It is not recommended to remove skin tags at home because improper removal can lead to bleeding, infection, scarring, or skin injury.
