Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is a group of health problems that often occur together, including excess belly fat, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol, and it raises the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. It is often silent, so many people do not realize they have it until a routine checkup finds abnormal measurements.

Metabolic syndrome is a serious condition that develops when several metabolic risk factors appear at the same time. Common contributors include central obesity, insulin resistance, poor diet, and low physical activity. Some people may notice fatigue, thirst, frequent urination, blurred vision, or darkened skin around the neck or armpits, but many have no obvious symptoms. Early detection matters because lifestyle changes such as healthier eating, regular exercise, weight control, and proper medical treatment can lower future complications.
