Ectopic Pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy is a dangerous disorder that can kill you. Implantation may occur less commonly in the ovary, cervix, or abdominal cavity. Because these places can't sustain normal foetal growth, the pregnancy can't go on safely, and it needs medical intervention right away.

Missed periods, pain in the lower abdomen (usually on one side), vaginal bleeding, and dizziness are all common signs. In extreme cases, the afflicted structure can break, which can cause internal bleeding, acute pain, fainting, and shock, which is a medical emergency. Some factors that increase your likelihood of getting this condition include having had a tubal infection before, having pelvic inflammatory disease, having had an ectopic pregnancy before, smoking, and using assisted reproductive techniques like in vitro fertilisation.

Transvaginal ultrasonography and measuring beta-hCG hormone levels are the most common ways to make a diagnosis. Early identification enables conservative treatment with drugs such as Methotrexate, which inhibits aberrant tissue proliferation. However, advanced or ruptured situations may necessitate surgery.
