Metabolic Disorders

Metabolic disorders are medical conditions that disrupt the body’s normal chemical processes for converting food into energy. These disorders can arise from genetic enzyme defects, organ dysfunction (such as the liver or pancreas), or lifestyle?driven imbalances in glucose, fat, and hormone metabolism. Common examples include diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and inherited errors of metabolism such as phenylketonuria or Gaucher disease.

Symptoms often include unusual fatigue, unexplained weight change, muscle weakness, abdominal discomfort, and developmental delays in children. If left unmanaged, metabolic disorders can lead to complications such as cardiovascular disease, kidney problems, or progressive organ damage.

Diagnosis usually involves blood and urine tests, imaging, and sometimes genetic screening, followed by medication, diet?based plans, and lifestyle modifications to restore metabolic balance.
