Yonivyapad (Gynecological Disorders)

In Ayurveda, Yonivyapad denotes a wide array of gynaecological problems impacting the female reproductive system. It includes problems with the Yoni (vagina and uterus) that happen when the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas are out of balance. There are different kinds of Yonivyapad, and classical sources say that each one has its own set of symptoms based on which dosha is more dominant. Some of the problems that can happen are irregular periods, too much or too little bleeding, vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, infections, and not being able to get pregnant.

The main reasons are eating poorly, not keeping clean, working too hard, holding back natural impulses, hormonal imbalance, and emotional stress. An imbalance in Vata can cause pain, dryness, and cycles that aren't regular. An imbalance in Pitta can produce inflammation, a burning feeling, and excessive bleeding. An imbalance in Kapha can cause discharge, itching, and slow reproductive function.

The goal of Ayurvedic management is to fix doshic imbalance and make the reproductive tissues (Artava dhatu) stronger. People often use herbal medicines, including Ashoka, Lodhra, Shatavari, and Triphala. Uttarbasti, Yoni Pichu, and Virechana are examples of specialised therapies that help clean and refresh the reproductive systems.

In addition to treatment, good personal hygiene, a healthy diet, and a stress-free life are important for preventing and sustaining long-term reproductive health.
