Spread The most frequent type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which makes up over a third of all cases around the world. It is a fast-growing malignancy that starts in B lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell that makes antibodies. DLBCL can form in lymph nodes or outside of them, and it can damage organs like the liver, spleen, bone marrow, or even the brain.
The precise aetiology remains unidentified; nevertheless, genetic alterations, compromised immunity, persistent infections, and specific viral exposures may play a role in its pathogenesis. Some common signs are lymph nodes that grow quickly, fever that doesn't go away, night sweats, weight loss, and constant tiredness. Usually, a diagnosis includes a physical exam, blood testing, imaging, and a biopsy to confirm it.
Immunochemotherapy, such as R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone), is the usual way to treat this disease. In some circumstances, it may be best to use stem cell transplantation or targeted therapy. Many patients go into remission after early and intensive treatment, which generally leads to good results.
DLBCL is a fast-growing disease, but if it is found and treated quickly, it may be possible to cure it. Regular medical follow-up is crucial to monitor relapses and ensure long-term recovery.
